In development of the Covert 10.5, the brief was to create the fastest, most maneuverable, and most predictable open canoe as possible. This all came down to the stepped rocker profile. The step in the tail ensures a clean release of water from the stern. This in turn reduces drag and helps minimize the tendency for the tail to bog down on boily eddy lines or when getting bounced around by large lateral waves. To boost secondary stability, the sidewall profile is continually curved and is carefully angled to keep the waterline width to a minimum.
Silverbirch canoes are proudly designed and made in the UK. Each canoe is made by craftsmen in a purpose built production facility in Norfolk. Every aspect of a canoes production and testing process is recorded by the industry leading quality control system. This ensures full traceability of materials and the quality is consistent throughout. Before production begins, all new designs undergo a meticulous testing and set up process. To make sure boats are as durable and light as possible, the plastic distribution is perfected. The cook is also tuned to ensure the polymer is perfectly cured every time. Each and every canoe is then tested thoroughly at Quality Control. This ensures the high standards that Silverbirch are known for.
The Covert 10.5 come outfitted with our custom Silverbirch bulkhead saddle made from 30kgm3 density minicell foam. The saddle is fitted as standard with Yakima footrests. A fitting kit including foam sidewalls, foam shims, glue, sandpaper, and a surf-form is supplied to allow you to customize your boat to your needs the second it arrives. The Covert 10.5 comes in Duratough laminates. Duratough is a thickness optimized material which is ideal for all the abuse of modern day creeking.
